//The Irish Embassy in Berlin is hosting a meeting of Irish Studies scholars on Friday 10th November 2023//

The meeting will bring together academics and researchers working on the study of Irish literature, language, linguistics, culture, and society in order to facilitate networking and exploring of opportunities for collaboration. The morning sessions presents an opportunity to discuss the state of Irish Studies in Germany and neighbouring countries, as well as funding opportunities available from the Government of Ireland (e.g Emigrant Support Funding) and other funding sources. The afternoon will have time for 1-2 panel discussions. The meeting will conclude with a public lecture and drinks reception at the Embassy.
This year they will expand the invitation to scholars and researchers from the entire DACH region, so please feel free to circulate this save-the-date among your networks in this region.
The Embassy is soliciting papers for the afternoon panel discussions under the broad theme of Irish Identities. Please submit your abstracts of no more than 250 words by 17th September to Melanie.Neumann@dfa.ie .
The Embassy may be a position to contribute a small travel grant to some participants, up to a maximum of 200 EUR per participant, subject to availability of funding.
Please note that the Meeting of German-Irish Societies and Cultural Organisations will take place on the following day, 11th November 2023. Participants of either day are welcome to attend both events if they wish.
