Network Conferences

The inaugural New Perspectives on Irish English Conference was held in 2010 in University College Dublin and organised by Bettina Migge (University College Dublin) and Máire Ní Chiosáin (University College Dublin). Since then, NPIE conferences have generally taken place on a bi-annual basis.

Prior to the NPIE meetings, the Celtic Englishes conferences, organised by Hildegard Tristram R.I.P. of the University of Potsdam, were the meeting place of researchers on Irish English. The first of these was held in 1994; the last in 2004 (cf. https://people.unil.ch/patriciaronan/files/2016/04/The-Celtic-Englishes-IV.pdf).

Upcoming NPIE conference 2026:

New Perspectives on Irish English 9 (NPIE9): We look forward to NPIE9, to be held in 2026 in the Marino Institute of Education in Dublin. Fergal O’Dwyer is the organizer.
